Do you want to make a difference yourself or are you looking for help?

Do you want to make a difference for people living in poverty? Know that by going through this website, you have already taken a fantastic first step. By empathizing with the stories, you looked through a different lens and reflected on what might be taken for granted by you, but not by others. A next step could be to share those new insights with the people around you, thereby moving small stones.

Would you like to do something concrete for people living in poverty? Or are you, or someone you know, looking for appropriate help?

Below you will find some organizations and services that we came into contact with during this campaign and the Open Kaart Spelen project.

You can contact these organizations to ask for help, but also to contribute yourself. Perhaps you would like to volunteer, help serve meals, provide transport, offer a listening ear, or assist with administration. A financial contribution can also help support their operations.

Feel free to inquire about the possibilities at your municipality or with one of these organizations.

CAW (Centre for General Welfare Work) offers free and confidential help regarding well-being, such as housing, finances, parenthood, and relationships. Together, they look for solutions and customized support.

The Public Centre for Social Welfare (OCMW) ensures that everyone in Belgium can lead a dignified life. It is a local service in every municipality where you can go if you are having financial or personal difficulties.

Welzijnsschakels bring people together, organize group activities and home visits, offer practical support, and work towards a society in which no one is left alone.

VDAB helps everyone looking for work. They offer jobs, training, and guidance. In this way, they support job seekers in Flanders and Brussels to find work and maximize their talents.

The Belgian Food Banks are committed to the fight against hunger and food waste. Together with more than 670 associations and thousands of volunteers, they stand in solidarity with people in need.

Your health insurance fund helps you with questions about incapacity for work and disability, reimbursement of medical costs, and health insurance. There are also additional services that differ per health insurance fund, such as administrative support, home adaptation, volunteer work, reimbursements, etc.
